On Tuesday’s edition of “Washington Watch with Tony Perkins” Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) joins Tony to discuss the recent Planned Parenthood videos that have helped garner support for his Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. FRC’s Executive Vice President and founding member of the Army’s Delta Force, Lt. General (ret.) Jerry Boykin, is here to break down the recent issues plaguing the U.S. Army regarding their recruitment numbers—their numbers are down 14 percent from where they are intended to be. One of the Houston pastors who had his sermons subpoenaed by the city, Hernan Castano, joins Tony to highlight a lawsuit he and other subpoenaed pastors brought yesterday against Mayor Annise Parker for violating their civil rights. Also, FRC’s Senior Fellow for Family Empowerment, former undersecretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Ken Blackwell, is here to discuss what he expects to see from the GOP presidential candidates at this week’s first debate, which takes place Thursday.

Defund Planned Parenthood

A few days ago, we asked you to call your Member of Congress to call for a moratorium of funding on Planned Parenthood. They heard you! But instead of just a one year moratorium, pro-life Senators took it a step further – the Senate is going to vote on a bill to entirely defund Planned Parenthood! Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) just introduced S. 1881, to protect women’s health and defund Planned Parenthood. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell promised a vote on it next week, before the Senate recesses for August.

When will we decide we’ve have had enough? How much more appalling evidence do we need from Planned Parenthood before we officially cut ties between the taxpayer and this abortion giant that scavenges baby parts and haggles for the cost of each “specimen?” I say it’s past time to tell Congress enough is enough. Planned Parenthood doesn’t need or deserve any of our hard-earned taxpayer dollars.

Planned Parenthood, whose motto is “Care. No matter what,” cares mostly for their bottom line. While engaging in the horrific practices of sifting through aborted babies’ parts to see which organs they can salvage and sell, they try to portray an image of respectable, compassionate health care providers. Ironic? Thankfully, Americans are finally seeing through Planned Parenthood’s carefully crafted ... (more)

Supreme Court's Marriage Ruling is Shocking Abuse of Power, Will Never Be Accepted

Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins responded today to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision forcing the people in all 50 states to embrace same-sex “marriage,”  regardless of their votes to define marriage in their states as a man-woman institution.

Of the decision FRC President Tony Perkins said:

"Five justices on the Supreme Court have overturned the votes of 50 million Americans and demanded that the American people walk away from millennia of history and the reality of human nature.

“In reaching a decision so lacking in foundation in the text of the Constitution, in our history, and in our traditions, the Court has done serious damage to its own legitimacy.

“No court can overturn natural law.  Nature and Nature’s God, hailed by the signers of our Declaration of Independence as the very source of law, cannot be usurped by the edict of a court, even the United States Supreme Court.

Hillary Once Thought Abortion Was Wrong

by Ken Blackwell

Ken Blackwell is Senior Fellow for Family Empowerment at Family Research Council. This article appeared in Christian Post on August 4, 2015. Granted, it was when she was first lady. And admittedly, she didn't think we should do anything about the wrong of abortion. But she did say it. Hillary Clinton told Newsweek Magazine she thought "abortion is wrong" (October 31, 1994). What is significant here is that she said it even once. It is important because this is a major reason why Barack Obama and not Hillary Clinton is our president ... (more)

On Clear Biblical Teaching, Non-Essentials and Homosexuality

by Rob Schwarzwalder

Rob Schwarzwalder is Senior Vice President at Family Research Council. This article appeared on The Stream on July 17, 2015. Christians disagree about many things, some more important than others. Among Evangelical Protestants, there is universal concurrence on the core issues of the faith. The key aspects of our theology are well-expressed in the historic Lausanne Covenant, for example. On secondary issues, disputes begin. The covenantal versus dispensational hermeneutic, eschatology, whether or not to drink alcohol, head-coverings ... (more)

The Left's War on Science: From 'Unborn Youth' to 'Fetus'

by Rob Schwarzwalder

Rob Schwarzwalder is Senior Vice President at Family Research Council. This article appeared in Canon and Culture on July 31, 2015. Earlier this year, National Geographic’s ran a cover story called, “The War on Science.” In the feature article, writer Joel Achenbach addressed a number of issues about which many people dispute the received scientific wisdom. Ranging from the moon landing to evolutionary theory, Achenbach detailed why skeptics refuse to accept what to many scientists seems established fact. Personally, ... (more)
