Kenyn Cureton

Vice President for Christian Resources

Dr. Kenyn Cureton serves as the Vice President for Christian Resources with a mission of equipping Christians to become spiritually active, governance engaged conservatives (i.e., SAGE Cons). Previously he served as VP for Church Ministries for over 12 years. Under his leadership, FRC's "Watchmen on the Wall" pastors network grew from 1,800 to over 40,000 who were engaged by email.

Prior to joining FRC, Dr. Cureton was unanimously elected as Vice President for Convention Relations for the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). In this position, Dr. Cureton directed media and public relations for the SBC Executive Committee, performed liaison work with national church and political officials, and was executive editor of SBC Life.

Previously, Dr. Cureton served as a pastor for twenty years, most recently at First Baptist Church in Lebanon, Tennessee. While there, he authored Lost Episodes in American History, a pilot video curriculum intended to teach citizens about America's Christian heritage. Dr. Cureton also was co-creator of the iVoteValues Voter Impact Toolkit for the SBC, Focus on the Family and Family Research Council, which equips churches to conduct a Christian Citizenship Sunday and a non-partisan voter registration drive.

Since joining FRC, Dr. Cureton updated the Voter Impact Toolkit and created the Culture Impact Team manual, designed to help raise and resource a church-based team of activists, operating under the pastoral leadership, to equip the members to function as salt and light in their community. In addition, Dr. Cureton initiated the WatchmenPastors.org and CultureImpact.org websites for culturally engaged pastors and church members. He is the author of a booklet: Ten Commandments: Foundation for American Society and a daily devotional: Lost Episodes: Daily Inspiration from America’s Amazing Story.

Dr. Cureton holds a Bachelor's degree in Religion from Carson Newman College and a Master of Divinity (MDiv) and Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has done additional study at the University of Texas at Arlington and completed his doctoral dissertation while at the University of Lund, Sweden. Dr. Cureton and his wife, Pat, have two married children.
