Stem Cell Research, Cloning and Human Embryos
Various bioethics issues have entered into contemporary moral and political debate. This pamphlet offers a clear overview of the processes of cloning and both types of stem cell research as well as an explanation of human embryos. It is divided into three sections: Stem Cells, Cloning, and Human Embryos, each providing definitions of key terms and an analysis of the major ethical questions surrounding the biotechnologies involved. The debates surrounding these issues are often muddled by technical language that frequently confuse rather than clarify the questions involved in issues of bioethics. We hope this short pamphlet will help remove some of the unnecessary confusion related to the complex questions surrounding questions of life and biotechnology. Rev. Dr. Tadeusz Pacholczyk is an expert in the field of bioethics and biotechnology. He earned a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Yale University, did post-doctoral research at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School and serves on the Ethics Committee of St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts. |
