Craig James

Craig is a fifth generation Texan who was born in east Texas. Most of his childhood was spent growing up in Houston, Texas.

After graduating from Southern Methodist University in 1984, the former SMU running back and New England Patriot embarked on a successful and multi- dimensional business career. Craig maintains that, "I was blessed to play on championship teams at every level of my football career. The skills I acquired and used to win in sports have also enabled me to accelerate in my business career. It takes hard work and continued discipline to excel in anything you do."

In 1989, Craig began his career as one of the lead analysts in college football. He worked for ESPN/ABC, CBS, Yahoo! Sports and The Sporting News, among others. In 1993, Mr. James founded the Craig James School of Broadcasting and spent ten years training professional athletes and coaches on the skills needed to become a professional broadcaster. In 1995, Craig founded Players Communication Network, one of the original video content providers of sports programming on the internet.

His enthusiasm for free markets and his extensive understanding of risk and reward has enabled him to manage his own money and investments since the age of twenty-one. Craig is known for his ability to see an opportunity and for his relentless pursuit of uncovering every rock to make sure he knows the deal before he buys it. Through discipline and experience, he has learned not to deny the red flags of his homework.

In 2003, Craig founded Emerging Land Markets, a partnership that focused on ranch acquisition, development and operations. Craig oversaw the operations of thousands of cattle, as well as a hay business that produced up to 30,000 round bales a year.

Over the last decade, Craig has acquired and sold 50,000 acres resulting in sales in excess of $150 million.

Craig served as the President of the Celina Economic Development board in his current hometown of Celina, Texas. In the fall of 2009 he released his first book "Game Day", which took fans behind the scenes of college football. From 2010 through 2011, Craig served on the board of the Texas Public Policy Foundation. In 2012 he ran for the open United States Senate seat in the state of Texas. He is currently a student at Dallas Theological Seminary.

Craig currently resides in Celina, Texas with his high school sweetheart and wife of thirty-one years. They have raised four children and are members of Prestonwood Baptist Church.
