Daniel L. Dreisbach is a professor in the School of Public Affairs at American University in Washington, D.C. He received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Oxford University, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia. He has authored or edited seven books, including The Sacred Rights of Conscience (Liberty Fund, 2009), The Forgotten Founders on Religion and Public Life (Univ. of Notre Dame Press, 2009), and Thomas Jefferson and the Wall of Separation between Church and State (New York Univ. Press, 2002). He has published over 60 book chapters, reviews, and articles in scholarly journals, including American Journal of Legal History, Constitutional Commentary, Emory Law Journal, Journal of Church and State, North Carolina Law Review, and William and Mary Quarterly.
