Commentary

February 23, 2015

God may be taboo at public schools, but apparently sadomasochism isn't!  Hello, I'm Tony Perkins with the Family Research Council in Washington.  At one school, 50 Shades of Grey is turning parents 50 shades of red.  In a story that took everyone by surprise, kids at a Pennsylvania middle school got an outrageous assignment: an X-rated word search based on the erotic movie.  Words like "bondage," "spanking," and "handcuffs" were some of the tamer clues.  Others, reporters said, were so graphic they couldn't be printed.  What was the teacher thinking?  School officials don't know, but they've launched an investigation to find out.  "It was a huge but unintentional error," one board member apologized.  One mom said, "'What professional would even hand this out to 13-year-olds?'"  Unfortunately, the same parents who are outraged by this are probably unaware that most modern sex ed is just as explicit.  It takes moms and dads getting involved on every level to stop it.  If there are words parents should be searching for, it's: we're watching!
