Assistant to the President (Western U.S.)
In February 2004, Gil Mertz joined Family Research Council (FRC) as an Assistant to the President, articulating how FRC is working to restore the principles of faith, family and freedom in America to key supporters throughout the Western portion of the United States.
Gil has been involved with full-time Christian service for more than 30 years. He draws from a vast background of ministry with international missions, evangelism, humanitarian causes, social justice, race relations, and serving the homeless. He is a former pastor and also hosted his own call-in radio talk show in Colorado Springs. In addition to his duties as Master of Ceremonies for all FRC events, Gil also meets with community leaders, philanthropists, and churches that may not be familiar with FRC but are committed to conservative values.
Using FRC's resource materials, he urges citizens to become better educated and equipped to promote pro-family values in their own communities and around the country. Gil and his wife have three grown children and two grandchildren.
