Family Research Council has filed a "friend of the court" brief to defend traditional marriage in four important cases pending in the New York Court of Appeals, the state's highest court. In December 2005 and February 2006, two intermediate appeallate courts ruled against the same-sex "marriage" advocates who filed these lawsuits. When the cases reached the state's highest court, we filed this brief in an effort to uphold these decisions and defend marriage in New York as the union between one man and one woman.
Shields v. Madigan , a fifth marriage case, is pending at the appellate level. FRC has filed a "friend of the court" brief for this important case as well.
