My Pick for VP
July 16, 2012 - Monday
It is my great pleasure to announce today that Lt. Gen. (USA Ret.) Jerry Boykin has joined Family Research Council as our Executive Vice President. General Boykin was one of the original members of the U.S. Army's Delta Force. He eventually commanded these elite warriors in combat operations. Later, Jerry Boykin commanded all the Army's Green Berets as well as the Special Warfare Center and School. He spent his last four years in the Army in Washington, D.C. serving as the U.S. Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence.
Rather than retire quietly, General Boykin has spoken out on behalf of those who serve in our nation's military and for the freedom they defend. Over the last few years, Gen. Boykin has become a vital source of wisdom and strategy for the FRC team and me as we've responded to the Obama Administration's use of the military to advance their radical social agenda. I have come to greatly appreciate his leadership ability, which was forged under the most demanding circumstances, along with his passion for faith, family and freedom.
Gen. Boykin is going to make a great addition to the FRC team as we advocate for Christian values and advance faith, family and freedom here in Washington and beyond. There is no one better equipped to assist us in this mission than Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin. Please join me in welcoming General Jerry Boykin to FRC's leadership team!
Rainbow Flag Imperialism
When it comes to foreign policy, the Obama Administration has made it clear they will have two priorities -- promoting homosexuality and promoting abortion. The Administration has not only vocalized this policy but been quick to put taxpayer funds and resources behind it -- regardless of other countries' views on the matter. Earlier this year in the country of Bulgaria, the Administration spent tax dollars on a Gay Bulgarian Film Festival as well as an "after show party." In June, the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria, alongside 12 ambassadors from other countries, endorsed that country's gay parade in an official declaration.
This brought the attention of 20 civil society organizations who wrote a letter to the embassies expressing their outrage that these countries would seek to promote activity that is against Bulgarian law, which clearly defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman. This all seems to be part of the President's push, headed up by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to use official U.S. resources to promote homosexuality. For example, while the Administration is slow to defend oppressed Christians who are being killed for their beliefs in Muslim and communist countries, they took less than one day to condemn the Russian government for barring a homosexual pride parade in Moscow. It is clear with this Administration that family and babies take a back seat to exporting immorality.
Just Because ICANN Doesn't Mean You Should
In 2008, according to Notre Dame professor Kirk Doran, "14 percent of the online population of America visit(ed) adult sites and (spent) an average of 6.5 minutes per visit." Pornography does great damage to men, women, and children, and the families they compose. This is not only an assertion of moral fact but of indisputable research. That's why the new ".XXX" Internet domain, established last year by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is so troubling. This new pornography domain resulted in thousands of new Internet pornography sites. Yet ICANN, a non-profit corporation created in the late 1990s that partners with the U.S. government on a number of Internet issues, is now considering a request by ICM Registry - the parent "adult" company that manages ".XXX" -- to do even more damage.
Pat Trueman, who heads Morality in Media and who served as the anti-pornography point-man for President Reagan, tells us: " ICM Registry ... is asking ICANN for permission to open three new domains, .PORN, .SEX, and .ADULT. If you recall, ICM Registry originally proposed the .XXX domain so that all porn sites would be in one place on the web. Well, that was never a possibility and now we know just what the true motivation of ICM is -- lots more porn on the Internet."
Pornography is ruining marriages, destroying the innocence of countless young women and men, and degrading our culture. Stay tuned for further updates on what you can do to stop yet another, massive growth of this moral cancer.
