Comedian Chonda Pierce Joins Tony Perkins on the Radio to Discuss Kathy Griffin's Comedic Career

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Yesterday, Christian comedian, Chonda Pierce, appeared on Washington Watch with Tony Perkins, a national radio show which airs on more than 240 stations across the country. On the show, Pierce weighed in on Kathy Griffin’s apology in the aftermath of her decision to post pictures of herself holding a fake, bloodied, disembodied head resembling President Trump.

In response to Kathy Griffin’s move to blame President Trump for sabotaging her career after she “crossed the line” Ms. Pierce made a point about the responsibility comedians have, “You know of what I said on Facebook and I stand by my words because I have to. I’m in the same kind of job as she is and what comes out of my mouth I have to either suffer the consequence of, apologize, or learn something from it … when that line gets crossed.” Chonda posted to Facebook her thoughts about where and when Griffin’s career really began to implode.

Chonda also shared her thoughts on Kathy Griffin’s apology, "What I’m not hearing in her apology is a true repentant or contrite spirit. The very first apology she just came right out and said the reaction of the crowd caused her to apologize. It wasn’t really that she was sorry for doing that.” Pierce went on to say, "Her statement was that Trump was a ‘fool.’ Well, that doesn’t quite exemplify to me a contrite spirit about demeaning or bashing the very President of the United States of America."

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, the host of Washington Watch, added, "She issued an apology…but it was a defiant apology and she played the role of the victim." Perkins concluded, “And she blamed the President for destroying her career.”
