Rev. Franklin Graham Joins Tony Perkins on the Radio with the Latest on Hurricane Relief Efforts

WASHINGTON, September 8, 2017 – Yesterday, Rev. Franklin Graham appeared on Washington Watch with Tony Perkins, a national radio show which airs on more than 240 stations across the country. On the show, Graham shared what he and Samaritan’s Purse are doing on the ground to help victims of Hurricane Harvey and prepare for Hurricane Irma.

Rev. Graham, president and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse, has received an outpouring of help in response to the disaster left in Texas after Hurricane Harvey, "I’m so thankful for the volunteers… wonderful people that just come together and they want to come and help and make a difference in Jesus’ name. And we see them; we see this goodness, this outpouring of compassion, and love and generosity from across the country. Every state, as far as I know, has sent a gift, has participated, they are sending volunteers and it always warms my heart when I see the outflow of love and compassion that comes from our country.” Graham went on, “we do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we do work through local churches, we work through the local church because the local church knows the community, and they know the people that are in the worst of need.”

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, the host of Washington Watch, added, “The first phone call that I made after Baton Rouge, and that surrounding area flooded a year ago… I called Samaritan’s purse. And within three days, Franklin’s team was on the ground. There is not a better-organized organization in terms of if you want to make sure your time is going to be well spent.”

“In these incidences, we often see the best of America in the worst of circumstances. I mean the people who step up and help their neighbors, the heroic efforts that are undertaken. This really does speak to the goodness of the church in particular, but society as a whole. There are a lot of good people out there." concluded Perkins.
