On Monday's edition of "Washington Watch with Tony Perkins" FRC's Assistant to the President, Craig James, guest hosts for Tony. Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) joins Craig to highlight her legislation, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015, which puts an immediate moratorium on tax payer funding going towards the group until an investigation into their actions is complete. Deputy Chief Counsel for Liberty Institute, Hiram Sasser, is here to discuss the major win coming out of California in the long debated legal battle surrounding the cross on Mt. Soledad.  Also, FRC's Senior Fellow for Family Empowerment and former Secretary of State in Ohio, Ken Blackwell, joins Craig to analyze the recent comments from former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee on the Obama Administration's nuclear agreement with Iran. We can all agree that this is a bad deal for our ally Israel.

Call for A Moratorium on Funding of Planned Parenthood

Like me, you have probably been appalled at the recent revelations of what goes on behind closed doors at Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). While Cecile Richards, President of PPFA, calls their actions "laudable," most Americans agree that scavenging organs of aborted babies is grotesque, and definitely not something that we should be supporting with our hard-earned tax dollars.

In the recent videos, we heard PPFA leaders describe changing abortion procedures in order to harvest intact baby organs, which makes this gruesome procedure even more difficult and painful for the mother. Women are required to sign consent forms saying, "I understand there will be no changes to how or when my abortion is done in order to get my blood or the tissue." But the videos show top PPFA officials having no qualms about deceiving the women, allowing them to sign the consent forms, and then directing the surgeons to change how the abortion is performed.

Your tax dollars and mine would be much better spent going to reputable health care centers rather than funding this scandalized billion dollar abortion business that not only ends human life but scavenges them for parts.

Although PPFA is a non-profit, they received $528 million in federal, state and local government grants and contracts in 2013-2014, and reported a total revenue of over $1.3 billion. The ... (more)

Supreme Court's Marriage Ruling is Shocking Abuse of Power, Will Never Be Accepted

Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins responded today to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision forcing the people in all 50 states to embrace same-sex “marriage,”  regardless of their votes to define marriage in their states as a man-woman institution.

Of the decision FRC President Tony Perkins said:

"Five justices on the Supreme Court have overturned the votes of 50 million Americans and demanded that the American people walk away from millennia of history and the reality of human nature.

“In reaching a decision so lacking in foundation in the text of the Constitution, in our history, and in our traditions, the Court has done serious damage to its own legitimacy.

“No court can overturn natural law.  Nature and Nature’s God, hailed by the signers of our Declaration of Independence as the very source of law, cannot be usurped by the edict of a court, even the United States Supreme Court.

President Obama to Abortionists: 'Thank you, Planned Parenthood. God bless you.'

by Ken Blackwell

Ken Blackwell is Senior Fellow for Family Empowerment at Family Research Council. This article appeared in The American Thinker on July 24, 2015. Planned Parenthood pays no taxes. Under President Obama, made more than $500 million in profits, but they claim to be a “non-profit” organization. They kill more 800 children every day. And they have from the earliest days targeted minority women. They once had a “Negro Ministers” project designed to recruit black pastors to push first birth control and then abortion in ... (more)

On Clear Biblical Teaching, Non-Essentials and Homosexuality

by Rob Schwarzwalder

Rob Schwarzwalder is Senior Vice President at Family Research Council. This article appeared on The Stream on July 17, 2015. Christians disagree about many things, some more important than others. Among Evangelical Protestants, there is universal concurrence on the core issues of the faith. The key aspects of our theology are well-expressed in the historic Lausanne Covenant, for example. On secondary issues, disputes begin. The covenantal versus dispensational hermeneutic, eschatology, whether or not to drink alcohol, head-coverings ... (more)

Tax Exemption for Churches: An American Value, a Social Imperative

by Rob Schwarzwalder

Some Americans seem to think that churches1 are merely large buildings that, after about noon on Sunday, lock their doors and occupy space for the balance of the week. This misperception could prove quite costly in the wake of the Supreme Court's finding of a constitutional "right" to same-sex marriage. Already, some are calling for the ending of tax exempt status for churches, religious-affiliated schools of all kinds, and non-profits in general if they do not actively make accommodations for same-sex partners. Not only would this loss be ... (more)
