Tom Atwood serves in FRC's Development department as Senior Grant Writer and Director of Foundations. In this position he oversees our outreach to institutional grant-making foundations and writes proposals for support of FRC.
Tom has directed conservative public policy organizations for over 25 years. During his 11 years at The Heritage Foundation, he was Director of Coalition Relations and worked to grow and strengthen the conservative movement. He has served as program and development counselor to more than 20 organizations. In his first tenure at FRC, he was Vice President of Policy and Programs.
During six years as President and CEO of National Council for Adoption, Tom helped tens of thousands of children have families through infant adoption, adoption out of foster care, and international adoption. He testified before Congress, led adoption advocacy delegations to foreign governments, edited Adoption Factbook IV, co-authored The Whole Life Adoption Book, and helped launch the Christian orphan care movement.
Tom earned his Master of Public Policy and Master of Business Administration at Regent University, both degrees summa cum laude, and his BA in Psychology at Brandeis University. Prior to graduate school, for six years as a senior manager he helped launch one of the first chains of natural food supermarkets, Bread & Circus, where he met his wife of 33 years, Eileen, with whom he has one child.
