Partnering for Action

Partnering for Action

April 25, 2016

The growing attacks in our time on the freedom to believe deserve not only our attention, but our action. After seven years of weak leadership on the world stage by the Obama administration, the enemies of freedom abroad have been emboldened to mistreat and torment religious minorities within their borders, especially our brothers and sisters in Christ.

In response, FRC has worked to focus attention on the plight of Christians suffering unthinkable atrocities under ISIS. Working with Congressional allies, we supported a successful House Resolution denouncing ISIS's persecution of religious minorities, and kept heavy pressure on a waffling White House. After months of agonizing silence from Obama, the leader of the free world finally designated ISIS actions as genocide, giving a small glimmer of hope to persecuted Christians in the Middle East.

FRC will continue to address the ISIS genocide with allies on the Hill, in news columns, on social media, in our Washington Update, and on "Washington Watch" radio. As you heard with our recent first-of-its-kind Stand with the Persecuted Sunday emphasis, we have also teamed up with leading international religious freedom groups to call believers to pray for the persecuted church, participate in practical support ministries, and promote policies that protect the persecuted.

However, even as we applaud our own government for finally recognizing the persecution taking place internationally, it is astonishing to see the religious hostility growing in our own backyards thanks largely to the policies and misplaced priorities of the Obama administration. Recently Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis, Washington florist Barronelle Stutzman, Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran, Oregon bakers Aaron and Melissa Klein, and Pastor Hernan Castano (one of the Houston Five) joined FRC for a small gathering of supporters to share how they were targeted for their faith by the radical Left. From coast to coast, we are increasingly seeing everyday Americans facing backlash, punishment, fines, and even the loss of businesses or jobs simply for living according to their deeply-held beliefs. We must stand up against discrimination and persecution of religious freedom both at home and abroad -- and we need your help to do it!

For over three decades, FRC has been a leading voice for your values through educating leaders on Capitol Hill, standing for truth in the media, empowering pastors and churches, and mobilizing the grassroots. All of this is only made possible by friends like you who are making faithful and generous commitments to partner with FRC. Will you join them in supporting FRC today to amplify our voice on behalf of religious liberty? Find more information here on how you can become a Monthly Family Partner and stand for the freedom to believe and live out your faith.
