Our colleges were once bastions of free speech; now they're bastions of speech codes. Our culture once rewarded independence; now it rewards victimhood. In modern academia, "trigger warnings" and "safe spaces" are becoming the norm in campuses across the country, as speakers who are deemed out of step with politically correct progressive thinking are banned from speaking. In a world in desperate need of truth, Dr. Everett Piper, president of Oklahoma Wesleyan University and author of the viral essay, "This Is Not a Day Care. It's a University!," provides some much needed common sense in a FRC Speaker Series talk entitled "Not a Day Care: The Devastating Consequences of Abandoning Truth." As Dr. Piper explains, feelings lead to fascism and facts lead to freedom. Words matter because they have meaning, and ideas do have consequences.
