President Obama could use a class on budgeting--and instead, he's teaching one! Hello, I'm Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. Someone who racked up six trillion dollars in debt probably doesn't know a whole lot about financial responsibility--but that isn't stopping the White House! President Obama is declaring April "National Financial Capability Month" to help teach kids how to budget wisely. "My administration continues to encourage responsibility at all levels of our financial system," he says. Of course, plenty of people would differ! This is the same administration that hasn't produced its own budget--despite a law requiring it to! And when the President has submitted a budget, it never balances! That's not exactly setting a positive example. After all, no one would tell college students that spending more than they make is sound financial advice. Families can't operate that way--and neither should our government! I think educating the public is a good idea. But the President shouldn't just promote responsibility--he should practice it!
