It looks like some cracks in the National Cathedral have nothing to do with last summer's earthquake. Hello, I'm Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. The National Cathedral holds plenty of important funerals--but it's the death of their marriage policy that's getting the most attention. For the first time in 100 years, "the nation's church" will start marrying homosexuals, leaders announced. It's part of the effort, the Episcopal Church says, "to move the national conversation forward" on marriage. Although a lot of people are disappointed by the decision, they aren't surprised. This is an Episcopal Church that's been moving away Christian orthodoxy for years. And so far, they've paid a tremendous price. Congregations are walking away from the Diocese by the hundreds. And this decision will only accelerate the decline. After the D.C. earthquake, Washington's spent millions of dollars to repair the damage done to the Cathedral. But it looks like it'll take a lot more than money to restore this church to its rightful foundation.
