Fighting for Life: Despite the Odds

Miracles happen every day. If you don't believe me, ask Rep. Jamie Herrera Beutler (R-Wash.). Hello, I'm Tony Perkins with the Family Research Council in Washington. When the doctor broke the news to Herrera Beutler and her husband that their baby had Potter's syndrome, which is caused by a lack of amniotic fluid which prevents the development of the lungs and kidneys, there was no choice for them but to keep fighting for their unborn daughter's life. "The doctor... he said, this is not compatible with life. And as he was saying it, I could feel her moving," Rep. Beutler said. Abigail Rose Beutler was born three months early, and she continues to thrive while waiting for a kidney transplant. In a culture that normally advocates for abortion in these cases, the Beutler family knew and trusted in God's plan for their daughter. That plan was life.
