President Obama isn't just opposed to abstinence, he's practiced it--on conservative programs. Hello, I'm Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. Usually, conservatives would be thrilled to cut government programs. But not when it comes to abstinence education! Five years ago, parents everywhere were frustrated to learn that this President wasn't interested in lowering teen sex and pregnancy. And he proved it by defunding every cent of abstinence education. Turns out, that decision wasn't just unpopular with Republicans--but Democrats too! Seventy-six percent of Democratic parents support abstinence lessons in school. And last month, the government finally gave it to them. Next year, a small sliver of funds--$5 million--will be available to programs that teach kids to save themselves for marriage. And while liberal groups complain, the reality is, they're still raking in 16 times that amount--without any success to show for it! And let's face it. As great as it would be to see the government teaching purity, it's not nearly as important as having parents that do!
