Late-term abortion is deadly and not just for the baby. Hello, this is Tony Perkins with the Family Research Council in Washington. Complications from a late term abortion at the Maryland abortion clinic of LeRoy Carhart took the life of a young woman was 33 weeks pregnant.

In July of last year, the state of Maryland quietly implemented tougher clinic regulations following a botched 2010 abortion. Maryland Coalition for Life has reported that Dr. Carhart's clinic is licensed by the state despite the fact that the clinic has not been inspected under the new guidelines.

At a press conference held Monday, Feb 11 by Maryland Coalition for Life, representatives from Priests for Life, Alliance Defending Freedom, Students for Life and others expressed their grief and sympathy to the family of the deceased and spoke out against the deadly practice of abortion.

Anna Higgins, Director of the Center for Human Dignity, represented FRC at the event. She urged Maryland to put the safety of women and children first by enforcing their current clinic regulations and banning the dangerous and barbaric practice of late-term abortions.
