The best game of catch that Alayna Adams had with her dad was the one she didn't know she was having! Hello, I'm Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. All nine-year-old Alayna Adams knew was that she'd been chosen to throw out the first pitch at the Tampa Rays game. When she stepped up to the plate, Alayna said she wanted to honor her dad, Lieutenant Colonel Will Adams. He'd been deployed to Afghanistan for two years, and they expected him back soon. What they didn't know was how soon! When the man at the plate lifted up his mask, and Alayna realized it was her dad, she ran into his outstretched arms. There wasn't a dry eye in the stadium. I wish every military family were so lucky. Today, we remember the thousands of fathers and family members who aren't coming back. They're the brave men and women who paid for our freedom with their own lives. May we never forget their sacrifice to ensure that we're all safe at home.
