U.S. soccer player Clint Dempsey lives to score, but in life, he has another goal. Hello, I'm Tony Perkins with the Family Research Council in Washington. The United States isn't the only thing Clint Dempsey was representing on the field at the World Cup. The pro-soccer star his job is to represent Christ. The U.S. captain says he game to faith later in life, after struggling with his teenage sister's death. "For a number of years, I... put distance between God and me. But he was faithful and patient and provided gradual healing." Dempsey credits a college Bible study for pointing him the in right direction. "I play to the best of my abilities and am thankful for the many opportunities and amazing successes [God] has given me," he told reporters. "Through it all, I want to do right by Him and not make mistakes, and live a life that is pleasing to Him." Win or lose, Clint Dempsey knows his biggest victories are spiritual ones.
