Kansas is taking adult stem cell treatments to heart--literally! Hello, I'm Tony Perkins for the Family Research Council in Washington. When most people think of Kansas, they think of farming or the Wizard of Oz. But if the state's legislature gets it way, Kansas will be famous for something else: the Midwest Stem Cell Therapy Center. When the bill passes, Kansas will be the go-to state for cutting-edge treatments on a whole range of conditions--including heart damage. And as an added bonus, the bill would create a special program for public stem cell education! FRC's own Dr. David Prentice helped craft the legislation and testified with other doctors about the promise of America's first adult stem cell center. Governor Sam Brownback, who's been one of the plan's biggest supporters, said, "If Kansas could take a leadership position in that, it could be a highly useful thing for people to get treatments." To see how adult stem cells are already saving lives, check out FRC's website, StemCellResearchFacts.org.
