While liberal groups are trying to "redefine" marriage, the Oxford dictionary already has. Hello, I'm Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. The world's largest English Dictionary is rewriting the book on families. According to reports, the Oxford Dictionary is changing the definition of marriage to include same-sex couples. A spokesman for the company said the change was necessary now that it's legal for homosexuals to marry in England. "It's worth pointing out," she said, that this dictionary is "a historical record of the language, meanings of the past will remain, even while... new ones are added." But to people who are trying to protect marriage from political correctness, these subtle changes make all the difference. As liberals know, the war of words could have a more profound effect on our culture than even the political debate. Meanwhile, we'll keep working to defend marriage whether it's in books, states, or schools--because "surrender" is one word that's not in our vocabulary.
