[dear_name], Stand with FRC against lawlessness!

Is President Barack Obama becoming a modern Caesar? Or a 21st century version of King George III -- the out-of-control monarch who triggered the American Revolution with his reckless disregard of English laws and biblically-based rights?

These may be shocking questions to ask, but I can tell you that thoughtful people inside Washington, D.C., and outside of it are VERY worried. They are worried that President Obama and his administration are so bent on "transforming" America that they are willing, perhaps even planning, to dismiss the laws and Constitution that keep us a free nation.

And the targets include you: your faith, your values, your freedom. And that's why I'm asking you to take a stand today.

Even some honest liberals are filled with fear as they watch what's happening.

Just recently, constitutional law professor, Jonathan Turley, not a conservative, warned Congress and the American people -- that President Obama was careening out of control. He warned that the President is cracking apart the constitutional foundation on which your religious and other liberties must stand.

I'll tell you exactly what Professor Turley said in a moment, but first, let me answer the question, "What can you and I do?" We can:

  • Get behind efforts to restore the Constitution's vital balance of power.
  • Help give intellectual insights and moral support to freedom-loving members of Congress.
  • Assist state governments to counter Washington, D.C.'s, power grab.
  • Rally grassroots Americans using the media.

I can tell you that Family Research Council is taking ALL of those steps each and every day from our headquarters near Capitol Hill.

That's why I'm asking for your financial and prayer support to meet this crisis of lawlessness -- and make no mistake, it is a crisis.

Can you send a generous contribution today?

In my 20-plus years of active involvement in the government process, I've never seen anything like the encroaching tyranny I'm seeing today by the Obama administration.

And if we don't join together and stop the abuse of power by the President and his allies, I fear we could lose our freedoms.

You, as a person of faith, are especially at risk because your values and beliefs are standing in the way of the goals of this growing lawlessness:

  • You believe in sexual morality. They believe government should protect and fund sexual immorality and punish dissenters like you.
  • You believe in the legal exclusivity of natural marriage. They believe you are dangerous. They think coercion is justified to silence you. They have openly declared that the right to homosexual behavior overrules your constitutional right to disagree with their "new morality."
  • You believe in the sanctity of human life from conception until natural death. They believe you should be forced to pay for drugs that can destroy human embryos, ObamaCare rationing and other immoral mandates.

But that's just the beginning of the crisis of lawlessness. How has this crisis unfolded?

First, the President of the United States refused to defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) -- a law duly passed by Congress in 1996 and signed by then-President Bill Clinton, a Democratic Party president.

This administration simply refused to carry out its sworn constitutional obligation to defend its own law. That is lawlessness. That is abandoning the Constitution in deference to a "favored" special interest: the homosexual rights lobby that views your rights as hateful bigotry.

Second, the President (through Attorney General Eric Holder) announced he will attack state laws defining marriage as one man and one woman. Holder even urged state attorneys general to refuse to defend their own state laws protecting marriage! Instead of acting like law enforcers, Obama and officials like Holder are acting like law-breakers. This is lawlessness!

Third, the President's Internal Revenue Service -- the IRS, arguably the most feared and potentially destructive agency in the nation -- apparently harassed political enemies... audited conservative organizations... audited Tea Party organizations...even audited religious organizations including Franklin Graham's -- causing them to spend money defending themselves. Further, the IRS slowed tax exemptions for similar groups.

Fourth, President Obama simply changed a law passed by Congress to suit his political well-being. I'm referring to ObamaCare. Since ObamaCare isn't working well, the President is simply delaying or refusing to enforce whole sections of it to hide the failure until after the 2014 elections.

But wait! President Obama swore an oath to uphold the law, not selectively ignore it.

Again, this is lawlessness-and bad news for your values and religious freedom.

All of which brings me back to law professor Jonathan Turley's warning:

"The danger is quite severe. The problem with what the president is doing is that he's not simply posing a danger to the constitutional system. He's becoming the very danger the Constitution was designed to avoid . . . we have had the radical expansion of presidential powers . . . we have what many once called an imperial presidency model of largely unchecked authority."

Friends, it is time to take action. And that is exactly what FRC is doing, and why I'm asking for your help as we intensify our efforts to be your voice in the halls of power.

FRC's staff of policy analysts are constantly monitoring everything that happens in Washington: legislation, trends, regulations, personnel moves -- everything. Our team is on Capitol Hill every day. And key members of Congress and their staff are often at our headquarters.

FRC is strongly countering the president's Caesar-like power grab that threatens people of faith. We are moving to reestablish the constitutional separation of powers on which all our laws and freedom depend.

That's why FRC is sounding the alarm on Capitol Hill. We are working with Congress to let them understand the threat . . . understand the implications of every piece of legislation that affects your faith, family, and freedom . . . see the big picture of what President Obama is trying to do so that it can be resisted, blocked, or hindered in the most effective ways.

For the future of our nation, this must be done.

But more, we are waking up grassroots America through our daily radio program Washington Watch Daily, through our daily emails, and other communications. We are working with 27,000 pastors and churches. And we are actively advising activists and legislatures in the states so that they can better say "No" to what the President and his cronies have in mind!

Our dedicated team strategizes . . . makes compelling arguments . . . assembles persuasive and enlightening facts . . . blows the whistle on deception . . . and more, to advance faith, family, and freedom.

But at such a dangerous time, FRC must be at full strength. And that's where you come in.

I'm urging you to send your generous gift today to heed the warnings, to meet the crisis of presidential abuse of the constitutional system on which your freedom and mine rests.

The Founders rejected King George III and wanted a government of laws, not men. Yet President Obama and his administration are acting like an imperial monarch. Like Caesar or King George -- not the president envisioned by the Founding Fathers! We must take firm action.

Please join us by sending your donation right away. Help FRC be your representative to sound the alarm and spur Congress and the states to push back against the Obama power grab.

Thank you, and may God bless you for standing firm when it counts!
