WASHINGTION, D.C.- Today Family Research Council (FRC) will host a policy lecture atnoon Eastern on religious persecution in China. Bob Fu, founder and president of China Aid, will deliver a lecture entitled "Freedom and Christianity in China." According to many human rights organizations, persecution of Christians inChina has accelerated in recent years, and Mr. Fu will discuss both the rise in persecution and what can be done to discourage it.
Mr. Fu is the founder and president of China Aid. Mr. Fu is a leading spokesperson on the persecuted church in China. He was born and raised in mainland Chinaand is a graduate from the school of International Relations of People's (Renmin) University in Beijing. He taught English to Communist Party officials at Beijing Administrative College and Beijing Party School of the Chinese Communist Party from 1993-1996. He pastored a house church until he and his wife were jailed in 1996 for "illegal evangelism."
Mr. Fu will be discussing the religious freedom and the Chinese house church, including religious persecution in China and how the global church can prepare for a future democratic, free China by obeying the biblical mandate to support the persecuted.
