Urgent Call to All God's People
June 29, 2018
The 10th annual Call2Fall is just two days away! Most Americans will celebrate our nation’s political independence on Wednesday, the 4th of July. But before we fire up the grill and organize picnics and fireworks, churches across the land will take time to pray for America.
This Sunday (July 1st), thousands of churches will pray, taking at least five minutes in their regular worship services for pastors and people to physically bow their knees, seeking God’s mercy and favor for our nation. Innumerable thousands of individuals and families will do the same at home. Nothing is more important to America than the repentant prayers of God’s people. God has given all of us who name Jesus as Savior and Lord the key to reversing both the moral decline and cultural divide in America. He will heal our land if we will meet his simple conditions, beginning with humble, repentant prayer (2 Chronicles 7:14).
The Hebrew word for “humble” in that verse is “Kana” (pronounced kaw-nah'). It means “to bend the knee, to humiliate, vanquish; bring down (low), into subjection, under, humble (self).” That’s why in Colonial America, most of the many Prayer Day Proclamations called not only for prayer, but for “humiliation,” fasting, and prayer.
Take time to read “Why We Need the Call2Fall this Sunday, Before the 4th of July” as well as Tony Perkins’ “The Story Behind Call2Fall.” They will prepare your heart for prayer this Sunday. Consider the kinds of prayer that God calls a priority for the churches, found in 1 Timothy 2:1-2.
And even if your church has not planned a Call2Fall, it’s still not too late. Let your pastor know that your church can still have a powerful and heartfelt Call2Fall. Ask your pastor to listen to National Day of Prayer President, Dr. Ronnie Floyd, talk with Tony Perkins this week about how easily pastors can take part in Call2Fall this Sunday. Tony and Ronnie refer to “31 Days of Prayer for My Nation – watch Tony’s presentation about beginning with Call2Fall and Ronnie’s presentation on extending your prayer time through the month of July.
If your church simply can’t make it happen on such short notice, you can still seize this opportunity. Gather your family or friends after church and take time to pray for America, together on your knees. God is eager to see His people come to Him in humility to pray, to seek His face, and to turn from our wicked ways. Learn more at Call2Fall.com and find resources to help with your Call2Fall.
On Sunday, may God hear and graciously answer our prayers. May the Holy Spirit move upon us and our countrymen, to bow our hearts to the Author of Liberty. May we acknowledge our nation’s dependence upon Almighty God, just as our Founding Fathers did, when, in the fear of God, they appealed to Him, declaring America an independent nation among the nations of the earth.
Thank you, and God bless you,
