The News Writer/Reporter is responsible for covering news for The Washington Stand (TWS), FRC’s news outlet. The News Writer/Reporter will write original reporting on assigned news topics to be published daily in TWS. Duties may include as needed, conducting interviews, taking photographs, producing audio and video recordings, and developing other materials that allows her or him to produce news reports, feature articles and service journalism pieces to communicate the news to TWS followers. The News Writer/Reporter may be called upon to represent their work on podcasts, audio, or video interviews, The News Writer/Reporter may also be called upon to help promote TWS content via social media.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Journalism, Communications, or English, and 1 to 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. The News Writer/Reporter position requires a strong working knowledge of national news issues and network news production processes. Knowledge of AP Style is required. Strong organizational and administrative skills; and excellent written and oral communication skills are also required. Preference will be given to applicants with related media experience and knowledge of pro-family policy issues. The ability to take initiative and work under deadlines and pressure is essential. ¨ This position may require travel and the incumbent will occasionally work nights and weekends
