Prayer Targets: Rosenberg on Russia; Racial Reconciliation; Frederick Douglass; VP Pence; Abortion

And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. Daniel 8:23
Dear Praying Friends,
Preaching the gospel in the open air is now illegal in Russia. So is sharing the gospel with friends and coworkers -- even in your own home. So is inviting friends to come to church to hear the Word of God. Christianity Today described the new Russian law signed in July 2016 as the "most restrictive measures [against religious freedom] in post-Soviet history" ... 143 million people spread across eleven-time zones are slaves of an evil they either cannot see or cannot stop. We must stand with our brothers and sisters who love Christ but hear the prison doors closing and locking around them. We dare not put our lamp under a bushel. The Billy Graham era may be over, but we must never stop communicating the Good News, especially to nations enslaved by cruel and wicked tyrants... Darkness is falling in Russia. A new czar has risen, and his name is Vladimir Putin. Putin calls himself a Christian, but he has declared war on the gospel.
Opponents wind up in jail. Journalists disappear or die. The economy is suffocating. Poverty is rampant. Deaths by alcoholism and drug overdoses are exploding. Since Putin came to power in 2000, the population has shrunk by more than three million people. One in four Russian men die before age fifty-five. And Russians aren't having enough children to replace themselves. Why would they? They have no hope.
Yet on March 18 -- barring something unforeseen -- Russians will go to the polls and reelect Vladimir Putin once again, giving him power to rule until 2024. Why? If life is so dismal in post-Soviet Russia, why is Putin so popular? Why should it matter to our leaders in Washington...? And why should any of this matter to the American Evangelical movement?
Why should any of this matter to leaders in Washington and the West? Because Vladimir Putin poses a grave and growing threat to the national security of the United States and our allies [above] any power in the world -- greater than Radical Islam, Iran, North Korea or China...
Putin made global headlines around the world by announcing that Russia has developed new first-strike nuclear missiles and state-of-the-art hypersonic underwater torpedoes that make NATO defenses "completely useless." In an angry, menacing State of the Union address, he vowed that "Russia cannot be contained." He explained when and how Russia will use nuclear weapons against her enemies. He complained no one has been listening to his threats and promises of nuclear superiority over the West. "Listen now," he warned. "I'm not bluffing."
Putin is hungry for wealth, hungrier for power, hungrier still for territory. He must be stopped, yet no one is stopping him...
Putin sees himself as a modern-day czar. He's not a Communist, not a Marxist or Leninist. He is an imperialist. He feels humiliated by the collapse of the Soviet Empire. He sees his mission as rebuilding the glory of Mother Russia, and, [thus] is hell-bent on expanding Russia's borders...
One-part mafia kingpin, one-part imperialist czar, Putin is: 1) rebuilding the Russian offensive war machine, 2) rebuilding Russia's strategic and tactical nuclear forces, 3) selling advanced weapons and even nuclear technology to Iran, 4) selling weapons to North Korea, 5) invading her neighbors, 6) silencing her critics, and 7) threatening the West. The big question is: What's next? (Joel C. Rosenberg; 3/6/18 Blog:"Darkness")
Rosenberg's novels deal with current events, but with a prophetic edge. While fictional, they explore what could happen if our national and other international leaders fail to lead with wisdom and righteousness. His speech at the NRB convention, however, was not fictional. We must pray for God's sovereign intervention regarding the ungodly ambitions of Vladimir Putin. We must pray for the safety and security of America. Above all, we must pray for our brothers and sisters under tyranny in the former Soviet Union. (Hear Tony Perkins and Joel Rosenberg discuss these matters HERE -- go to minute 27:10.)
The Call for Racial Reconciliation -- "Unity" is the theme of the National Day of Prayer, and a broad coalition of Christian denominations and prayer organizations are promoting prayer for unity in America's churches and the nation throughout 2018.
Meanwhile, billionaire George Soros and others are investing millions to create disunity and stir up chaos and revolution in the United States, as part of a communist-style plan to undermine the biblical and constitutional foundations of America (Mt 12:25). One of their strategies is to aggravate and inflame discontent among American ethnic groups, to recruit individuals for anarchistic indoctrination, and even to hire people to create chaos by criminal acts of violence. Despite the fact that Saul Alinsky dedicated his book, Rules for Radicals, to Lucifer (Satan), it has become the play book for the progressive liberal Left and the "resistance movement." Their chief mission is apparently to embitter all Americans against President Trump and the Republican Congress and to prevent their success on any and all of their initiatives. Their objectives are to create anarchy, confusion, and to develop an army of manipulatable foot soldiers for use by left-wing puppet masters like George Soros and the plethora of radical left-wing groups he leads and finances. This is being done in spiritual darkness, but the facts are readily available for all to see. Only God can defeat this kind of demonic strategy, with His wisdom from above (Jas 3:15) through an engaged and praying church. - Heavenly Father, working independently and through your people, you can stop this evil movement! Awaken and stir pastors and Christian leaders to inform, awaken, equip, and lead your people from every racial and ethnic background! We are one in Christ! May we pray together diligently, repent where we need to repent, and relate and work together in unity. May we maintain righteousness and justice in word and deed, speak the truth in love, and advocate for godly unity in the church and in America this year. May we expose this darkness and neutralize it altogether with your positive, powerful call to unity. (Ps 133; Eze 12:25; Lk 21:15; Jn 17:20-23; Acts 17:26; Rom 12:21; Gal 3:28; Eph 5:6-16; 1 Jn 1:7;3:8)
Bicentennial of Rev. Frederick Douglass -- February was Black History Month but February 2018 also marked the 200th anniversary of one of America's most notable African-American leaders during the Civil War and Reconstruction years: Rev. Frederick Douglass. To honor the bicentennial of his birth, FRC hosted a Speaker Series event to highlight the accomplishments of this amazing man who, born a slave, obtained his freedom after escape attempts to become a leading preacher, author, scholar, humanitarian, and entrepreneur who served five United States presidents. Many know of Douglass as a fiery speaker who strongly denounced slavery and advocated for the civil rights of blacks and women, but few know of Douglass's devotion to his Christian faith and his family. FRC's event featured Rev. Dean Nelson, FRC Senior Fellow for African-American Affairs and Chairman of the Board of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, and Colin A. Hanna, President of Let Freedom Ring, which promotes Constitutional government, economic freedom and traditional values. Hanna's latest project is a full-length motion picture Mr. Douglass -- An American Narrative, to be released in 2019. These lecturers cleared misconceptions of Douglass that too many Americans receive from his detractors. (View the Speaker Series video: Frederick Douglass: His Faith, His Family, Our Future)
- Pray that God's people will maximize opportunities for reconciliation, fellowship, and brotherhood between the races, but especially within and between our churches. May we exercise the ministry of reconciliation that God has given us -- with Him and with one another. May we be the tool he wants us to be to bring His grace and unity to our nation. (Ps 86:11; Mk 3:25; 2 Cor 5:18; Eph 1:10; Heb 4:16; Rev 7:9-10)
Finally, please add these issues to your prayer list, and pray over them as the Holy Spirit leads you: 1) The National Day of Prayer is fast coming upon us, Thursday May 3rd, and Call2Fall will follow on Sunday July 1st, 2018. 2) Vice President Mike Pence has been battered in the press for daring to predict in a speech that legal abortion would end in the U.S. "in our time." 3) The House passed a sex trafficking bill that will hold websites to account for their failure to stop the use of their services to promote this horror. The bill is with the Senate; even with 67 cosponsors, some are still predicting trouble. 4) Cecile Richards denies that Planned Parenthood is under investigation. 5) Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood is supporting political candidates, even as we subsidize them with a half-billion of our tax dollars. 6) Some immigrant girls are complaining that they are being coerced to abort a> their babies. 7) A judge took a teenage girl from her parents because they did not want her to take male hormones. 8) FRC has issued a report showing that the SPLC has ignored exposing the growing number of anti-Semitic hate groups on our college campuses, even as it plans to establish SPLC student groups at 100 schools. There is, of course, so much more!
As always, thank you for praying!
