Greetings from FRC Action!
We wanted to share the following information with you from our friends at North Carolina Values Coalition. If you have previously received this message, please simply disregard this second contact. We did, however, want to make certain that you, your friends, and your neighbors would be aware of this very critical information.
Calls and emails are urgently needed this morning, as the General Assembly has taken up repeal of HB 2. The vote is expected this morning. Call the switchboard at (919) 733-4111 and ask for your Represnetative right now!
We encourage you to join North Carolina Values Coalition in making your voice heard today!
Here are two things you can do NOW to ensure North Carolina’s commonsense privacy law remains intact:
- Contact your legislator by using our petition tool below to send them an email or call them on the phone asking them to stand strong on HB2!
- Pray for wisdom and discernment for Speaker Tim Moore, Senate Leader Phil Berger, Governor Cooper and your State Representative & Senator.
Earlier this week Lt Gov Dan Forest emailed his fellow lawmakers and reminded them that no basketball game, corporation, or entertainment event is worth even one little girl being harmed or frightened in a bathroom or one 14-year old girl losing her privacy and dignity to a boy in a locker room.
Lawmakers need to hear from you that a vote to repeal NC’s privacy law puts children and families in North Carolina at risk of losing their privacy and safety. It will never be good public policy to allow men into women's and little girl's bathrooms and showers. HB2 guarantees that won't happen, and it provides reasonable accommodation for a small minority of transgender people.
Lawmakers are scurrying to make concessions just to appease the NCAA, which has threatened to overlook North Carolina for championship games unless HB2 is repealed by Thursday! If the State succumbs to this new form of economic and corporate extortion, North Carolina will be establishing a precedent and illustrating a template for future corporate extortion efforts on any number of legislative issues.
This repeal of HB2 will not stop the Human Rights Campaign from bullying North Carolina and targeting North Carolina lawmakers. Their leader, Chad Griffin, promised earlier this evening that, "We will not back down, we will not go away. We will continue to encourage sports organizations and businesses to stand against North Carolina if this backroom compromise bill is passed. As we did with Governor Pat McCrory, we will target any Democrat and any Republican that votes for this compromise bill." This is why our legislators must not back down. This repeal of HB2 will not solve anything!
NC Values Coalition is so thankful for the many occasions where you have helped us over the past year but we need your help one more time to stop the repeal of HB2 and preserve privacy and freedom in North Carolina!
This is urgent! Please take a minute to click to email and call your legislators today!
Thank you for standing with us and North Carolina Values Coalition to protect and defend Faith, Family, and Freedom!
