Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned... 1 Timothy 1:5
Dear Praying Friends,
Dr. Ben Carson's books (e.g., Gifted Hands and Think Big) demonstrate what even the sorely disadvantaged can accomplish with vision, study and hard work. His latest, America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What Made This Nation Great explains free enterprise vs. socialism simply. Carson also gives his ideas for solving our nation's health care dilemma. An excerpt:
Not only did Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, and several of the other founding fathers speak out against government redistribution of property, but in 1795 the Supreme Court of the United States declared, "No man would become a member of a community in which he could not enjoy the fruits of his honest labor and industry. The preservation of property, then, is a primary object of the social compact.... The legislature, therefore, has no authority to make an act divesting one citizen of his freehold, and vesting it in another, without a just compensation. It is inconsistent with the principles of reason, justice and moral rectitude; it is incompatible with the comfort, peace and happiness of mankind; it is contrary to the principles of social alliance and every free government; and lastly, it is contrary to the letter and spirit of the Constitution." ...
Many of the founders make it very clear that they were extremely opposed to the concept of wealth redistribution, which is a basic tenet of socialism... they were very much opposed to the concept of a large, intrusive central government, which they felt was really no different than the European monarchies they were trying to escape. Consider the United States' rapid acceleration to pinnacle status by means of a system rewarding hard work and vigorously protecting individual assets while encouraging compassion and charity -- why would we want to change unless there is historical proof that another system will work better? In a socialist society, the government has the right to tax whomever it wishes for whatever amount it deems necessary, whenever it wants. This leads to abusive, unchecked power that can... deprive many of the people of their rights... to enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The insidious nature of socialism, cloaked in a facade of compassion, makes it very dangerous to an uneducated and trusting populace. And as socialism creates dependency, it is well on its way to eliminating freedom of choice and incentives for high productivity and innovation (Ben Carson, M.D., America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What Made This Nation Great Chapter 6, "Socialism: Whose Pot of Soup is It?" pp. 90-92).
Today, nearly half of our fellow Americans have caved in to this false ideology, led by people who have a vested interest in acquiring and exercising power over the people. Those who are standing up to defund Obamacare are doing what is right -- they are heeding their constituents and the Constitution. Only prayer and courageous action will stem this evil tide of socialism.
Obamacare Showdown between House and Senate - Conservatives in the House prevailed to pass a bill to keep the government funded, yet defund Obamacare. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) insists that it will be rejected in the Senate. Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Rand Paul (R-Ky.), and Mike Lee (R-Utah) are leading the effort to hold the line and promise to use whatever procedural steps and maneuvers they can to prevent the Senate from stripping the defunding measure from the bill. Unfortunately, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Minority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) have already undercut their colleagues by announcing that they will not support the filibuster.
Twenty-one Senate seats held by Democrats are up for re-election in 2014. More than half are vulnerable. Republicans could take control of the Senate with a change-up of just six seats. With Obamacare as unpopular as it is, it could lead to a radical shift in Congress in 2014. The House of Representatives best reflects the thinking of the American people at any moment in time. Their re-election depends upon their faithfulness to their constituents, and many were voted into office as a result of their promise to stop Obamacare.
Meanwhile, new and shocking facts are almost daily revealed regarding how empty the promises really were that President Obama used to sell Obamacare. Major companies plan to stop funding health insurance for tens of thousands of employees. Others plan to reduce working hours for employees to avoid required employer coverage under Obamacare. And the Affordable Care Act has proven to be anything but affordable. The IRS suggests that the average annual cost for a family of five in 2016 will be $20,000. Young people will see their premiums double and triple.
More and more people are asking why, if the plan was sold on lies, or, at best, incompetent predictions, are Americans being forced to go through with this? Fortunately conservative House and Senate members are taking a stand to protect Americans, who already feel abused, even before the real pain begins.
The Obama administration, without appealing to Congress, has made numerous "adjustments" to the law, "on the fly" as it were, postponing deadlines and adding provisions, including pushing forward the "employer mandate" deadline for a full year. The administration is admitting that many components of the plan are not ready for implementation. Meanwhile "Navigators" like Planned Parenthood and others who are targeting the poor are already advertising Obamacare insurance, readying customers for October 1. A nationwide doctors' shortage, exacerbated by Obamacare's reduction in Medicare payments to doctors will lead to patients waiting longer for needed procedures.
Progressive activists have long taught socialized medicine is the first major step toward their goal to transform America into a socialist state. Add to all this abortion and the violation of religious conscience! Tony Perkins is urging all who are able to contact both of their senators and urge them not to vote for any Continuing Resolution that includes Obamacare funding! (see Testing America's Patients; Let's Debate; Family of Five: $20,000 per Year; 15,000 UPS Workers; Cleveland Clinic Downsizing; Layoffs; McConnell; Fewer Doctors; Sticker Shock; Medicare's Demise).
- Help Lord! Give the American people the knowledge, inspiration and determination to urge the demise of Obamacare. May Americans make the Senate phone lines ring off-the-hook from now until Obamacare is defunded. Please change the hearts and minds of those who are intimidated, afraid to take a stand for what is right or who are simply deceived. May they fear God and not man! (Ex 3:7-9; 1 Sam 17:26,42-51; 2 Kg 13:14-19; Ps 20:7; 56:11; 144:1-2; Ec 12:13; Is 1:18; 28:9-18; Hos 4:6; Joel 3:9-10).
Finally, Floyd Corkins, the man who would have killed "as many" FRC staff members "as he could" if FRC's Leo Johnson had not prevented him, was sentenced to 25 years in prison last Thursday. But the Southern Poverty Law Center, whose Website "Hate Map" inspired the crime, continues, unrepentant, to label FRC, AFA and other Christian organizations, as "hate groups."
Evidence is growing that the hostile crackdown on military religious liberty is far more widespread that the instances widely reported, and especially in the Air Force.
While FRC is still studying the new Labor Department Guidance, it appears that the agency is interpreting the recent Supreme Court Decision on DOMA to require all private U.S. companies to provide the same benefits to homosexual couples married in states where same-sex "marriage" is legal, regardless of where the company or employees reside. This "guidance" may not carry the weight of law, but it shows where this is going.

Thank you for your prayers!
