Special Messages From Eight Presidential Candidates Discuss Threats to Religious Freedom
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Saturday, January 16th, Family Research Council will be joined by Vision America in hosting “Free to Believe,” a broadcast from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM EST. Over 160 churches in all 50 states will tune into the broadcast to learn practical ways to advance faith, family and freedom in their local communities. Nationally known leaders including Dr. Ronnie Floyd, who serves as president of the Southern Baptist Convention, and Dr. Everett Piper of Oklahoma Wesleyan University will address the growing crisis of religious liberty in our nation and what churches can do to protect our “First Freedom.”
Viewers will also see special messages submitted by eight presidential candidates who responded to the question: "What do you see as the greatest threat to religious freedom in America today and what will you do as president to protect our First Freedom?" The special broadcast will be filled with stories of individuals who have been tested and have stood strong for their religious freedom.
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins offered the following comments on the event:
“Religious liberty, the church, and our core beliefs have all been frayed by the words and deeds of this administration. As Christians, if we don’t have the freedom to live according to our faith -- whether it's in the home, the workplace, or in school -- then religious liberty is a meaningless phrase. I'll be talking with individuals, pastors, and Culture Impact team leaders as they share the urgency to stand up and defend religious freedom,” Perkins concluded.
