WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Yesterday, Mayor of Neosho, Missouri, Ben Baker, appeared on Washington Watch with Tony Perkins, a national radio show which airs on more than 240 stations across the country. On the show, Baker shared about the recent controversy that erupted in his town when the Freedom From Religion Foundation demanded that the city remove a sixty-foot cross that had been lying on the hillside of a local park since 1930.

Mayor Baker discussed how he and the city council unanimously decided they wouldn’t be bullied into taking the cross down, "We knew it was an outside organization… there’s no formal complaint that we have received from any constituents here in the city "Baker went on to say, “We immediately discussed it among council and had a consensus that we were just going to really politely say ‘no,’ and that we disagreed with their assessment of the law and their interpretation of the Establishment Clause and we’re not taking the cross down.”

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, the host of Washington Watch, responded, "What you will find is that you will have a lot of Americans, not just citizens of Neosho, standing with you. I think you’ll have folks from across the country who have had enough of this bullying and making us leave behind our heritage and our freedoms… I think you will find a lot support as you guys hold your ground on this, Mayor,” concluded Perkins.
