WASHINGTON, D.C., – Yesterday, Cynthia Dunbar, an RNC National Committeewoman from the Commonwealth of Virginia appeared on Washington Watch with Tony Perkins, a national radio show which airs on more than 240 stations across the country. On the show, Committeewoman Dunbar highlighted last weekend’s unanimous adoption of a Republican National Committee resolution calling on public schools to obtain written consent from parents before exposing children to sex education.

Committeewoman Dunbar commented, “It’s a landmark resolution.” Dunbar continued, “This whole resolution is simply going to underscore the supremacy of the parents to be able to determine what their children are taught. So proactively requiring the districts to reach out to the parents, give them information as to what the content is going to be, and then let them decide whether or not they want their children to be exposed to it.”

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, and host of Washington Watch, added, “No doubt it will have an impact. I think it’s critically important that parents be brought back into the loop in terms of the education of their children. Educators are lamenting the fact that parents are not involved, yet we’ve seen consistently and with greater frequency them trying to cut parents out – this brings them back in.”
