WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Family Research Council hosted a special program on the continued need to protect the religious liberty of all Americans.
In the broadcast, profiles of ordinary people whose freedom to believe has been affected in real ways were highlighted. Speakers included: Alliance Defending Freedom’s Greg Baylor, Esq., First Liberty Institute’s Mike Berry, Esq., Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.), Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.), Archbishop William E. Lori, Chaplain Wes Modder (US Navy, Ret.). Oklahoma Wesleyan’s Dr. Everett Piper, and Donald Vander Boon of West Michigan Beef Company.
“The surprising thing to me is the lack of knowledge a lot of people have about religious freedoms being taken away.” - Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.)
“You shouldn't have to choose between your faith and your career. Our right of conscience is important to us as human beings.” - Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.)
“Religion is a way of life. It's something we bring into the workplace and reflects our deepest convictions.” - Archbishop William E. Lori, Archdiocese of Baltimore
“We are co-litigants with the Little Sisters of the Poor, and stand arm in arm with these pro-life Catholic nuns who are celibate. And I say this with a smile on my face, they’re celibate…so why do they need any contraceptive let alone abortion inducing drugs? How arrogant of the federal government to take their religious freedom away…and say we don’t understand our own faith to make our decisions about our healthcare.” - Dr. Everett Piper, Oklahoma Wesleyan University
"It's a business we've always tried to run according to biblical principles." - Donald Vander Boon, West Michigan Beef Company
“This administration has an opportunity in front of them to sign an executive order protecting religious freedom for all Americans.” said Family Research Council President Tony Perkins.
